website cHow long are therapy sessions?

Individual therapy sessions typically last 50 to 55 minutes and couples sessions last 60 minutes unless otherwise negotiated.

How frequent are therapy sessions?

Sessions are typically once per week, but may be more or less frequent depending on your individual needs.

Do I need to arrive early for my first session to fill out paperwork?

Yes, you will be asked to arrive ten minutes early for your first session to complete some brief paperwork including an informed consent form and basic demographic information form.

Are my visits confidential?

Yes, this is a vital element of the therapeutic process.  Unless you want your care provider to speak with others, no one will know what you discuss or even that you are attending therapy.  The few exceptions that legally require us to break this rule include learning that you are at imminent risk of harming yourself or another person or if we learn of current child or elderly abuse.  If such situations occur, it is our policy to make every effort to fully discuss this with you before taking action.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. We provide talk therapy. If medication is necessary, we will provide you with referrals to a psychiatrist and work collaboratively with that provider to assure your clinical needs are being met.

How much does therapy cost?

Fees are $160 for individuals and $185 for couples sessions.

Once I start therapy, can I stop whenever I want?

Yes. You may stop whenever you choose and are only responsible for fees already accrued as a result of services received.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, We are an in network provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO. We can also bill as an out of network provider for all other insurance plans. Please be sure to check with your insurance company for specific plan coverage.

Is it better to use insurance or pay without using my insurance (out of pocket)?

This depends on your individual needs. The benefit of paying without utilizing your insurance is that we will not have to release any information to your insurance company. Also, we will be able to meet for as many sessions as you choose whereas some insurance companies limit the number of sessions an individual can utilize in a single year. The benefit of utilizing insurance is that for most people, the cost of therapy is much lower as the insurance company will cover much of the fee.
